Our team consists of a diverse mix of people with backgrounds in bioscience, agroecology, engineering, business, horticulture and farming.
Morten Østergaard Andersen
Morten is the co-founder and CEO at Bioomix.
He has a PhD in molecular biology and nanoscience from AU. Morten was previously an Associate Professor at SDU and co-founded the biotech startup Ossiform in 2018.
Julia Magdalena Østergaard Andersen
Julia is the co-founder and COO at Bioomix. She has a PhD in molecular medicine from AU and postdoctoral research experience from AU and SDU.
Mads is the CCO at Bioomix. He has an MSc in marketing economics from CBS. Mads has previously worked with marketing, sales and product launches at Carlsberg, KMD, Jyske Bank and Food Fyn.
Rasmus Christian Andersen
Rasmus is our business developer and farmer. He has an MSc in technology-based business development from AU and has previously worked with business development at Faaborg Pharma. He also owns a 50 hectare farm on southern Funen. Rasmus is in charge of our connection to the agricultural society and runs our in-house field test experiments.
Cecilie Toft Vangsøe
Cecilie is our microbiologist. She has a PhD in molecular food science from AU – Foulum, where she has worked with enzymatic fiber degradation. Cecilie is incharge of our microbeTRAP technology, microbiology research, and product development.
Martin is our engineer. He has an MSc in biochemical engineering from DTU, and has previously worked as a process engineer at BlueBenu. He is in charge of our production and fermentation.
Zahra is our plant researcher. She has a PhD in agroecology from AU – Flakkebjerg and has previously worked in plant nurseries, and as a field consultant and regulatory dossier writer at VKST. Zahra is in charge of plant growth and testing. She also manages our field trial collaborations with external partners.
Elvira Van Hauwaert
Elvira is our sequencing specialist. She has a PhD in molecular biology from SDU, where she has worked with genomics and bioinformatics. Elvira is in charge of our microbe characterization and product quality control.
Juan is our researcher and biochemical engineer. He has a PhD in environmental biotechnology from the University of Montpellier, and has previously been a researcher at the Masdar Institute and an assistant professor at SDU. He is in charge of our research and product development within the bioindustrial area.
Helle Kjærsgård Sørensen
Helle is our horticultural technician. She has a degree in greenhouse horticulture from Beder Horticultural School, and has previously worked with plant research at AU and SDU. Helle is in charge of our plant growth, research and product testing.
Maria Stougaard Andersen
Maria is our financial controller. She has a degree in financial controlling from UCL. She is in charge of our fund administration, bookkeeping and budgets.
Andreas Therge Sørensen
Andreas is our scientific journalist. He has a MSc in microbiology from the SDU. Andreas is in charge of our communication, and also works with QC in our R&D department.
Signe Hagelsø Schultz
Signe is our student assistant. She has a BSc in molecular biology SDU and is currently finishing her MSc in biotechnology at DTU. She is working in our R&D department on isolation of bacteria and product development.
Frederik Møller Ingwersen
Frederik our student assistant. He has a BSc in Biology and is currently finishing his MSc in biology at SDU. He is working in our plant department on plant growth and product testing. He is also our go-to guy for drone and satellite imaging.
Ruben Steinbakken Jensen
Ruben is our student assistant. He has a degree in marketing economics from UCL and is studying towards a BSc in international business and marketing. Ruben is part of our commercial team, where he is working with marketing, market research and social media.
Alma Fink Gärdström
Alma is our intern. She has a BSc in biology from SDU, and is currently finishing her MSc. Alma is working in our R&D department on a project that will lead to developent of a new microbial product for broad beans.

Our company has received funding from experienced investors, including the BioInnovation Institute, PreSeed Ventures, Planetary Impact Ventures, and the people behind West Hill Capital. We have also received grant support from the Danish Innovation Fund, for a project on microbial biofertilisers, and from the Danish Agricultural Agency, for a project on microbial biofungicides, which is a collaboration with researchers at Aarhus University and University of Copenhagen. The academic research on which the company was built was originally funded by the Villum Foundation and the Danish Innovation Fund.
